Epoch master® Magnesium oxide is an inorganic substance with the chemical formula of MgO. It is an oxide of magnesium and an ionic compound. It is a white solid at normal temperature. Magnesium oxide exists in nature in the form of periclase and is the raw material for magnesium smelting.
Magnesium oxide has high fire resistance and insulation performance. It can be converted into crystal after being burned at high temperature above 1000 ℃, and it will become dead burned magnesium oxide (magnesia) or sintered magnesium oxide when it is increased to 1500 - 2000 ℃.
Magnesium oxide is an alkaline oxide, which has the properties of alkaline oxide and belongs to cementitious material. It is white or grayish white powder, odorless, tasteless and non-toxic, and is a typical alkaline earth metal oxide with chemical formula of MgO. The melting point is 2852 ℃, the boiling point is 3600 ℃, and the density is 3.58g/cm3 (25 ℃). Soluble in acid and ammonium salt solution, insoluble in alcohol. The solubility in water is 0.00062 g/100 mL (0 ° C), 0.0086 g/100 mL (30 ° C). Exposed to the air, it is easy to absorb water and carbon dioxide and gradually become basic magnesium carbonate. Light products are faster than heavy products, and combine with water to produce magnesium hydroxide under certain conditions, which is slightly alkaline reaction. The pH of saturated water solution is 10.3. Soluble in acid and ammonium salt, but insoluble in water, its solution is alkaline. Insoluble in ethanol. It has strong refractivity in the visible and near-ultraviolet range. Magnesite (MgCO3), dolomite (MgCO3 · CaCO3) and seawater are the main raw materials for the production of magnesium oxide. Magnesium oxide is obtained by thermal decomposition of magnesite or dolomite. Use slaked lime to treat seawater to obtain magnesium hydroxide precipitation, and burn magnesium hydroxide to obtain magnesium oxide. Magnesium hydroxide or basic magnesium carbonate can also be precipitated by adding sodium hydroxide or sodium carbonate to the magnesium chloride brine obtained from comprehensive utilization of seawater or the brine after bromine extraction, and then burned to obtain magnesium oxide. China mainly uses magnesite, dolomite, brine or brine block as raw materials.
1. Food grade: used as food additive, color stabilizer, PH regulator, and magnesium supplement for food; It can be used as decolorizing agent for sugar refining, PH regulator for ice cream powder, etc. As an anti-caking agent and anti-acid agent, it can be used in wheat flour, milk powder chocolate, cocoa powder, grape powder, sugar powder and other fields, and can also be used in the manufacturing of ceramics, enamel, glass, dyes and other fields.
2. Feed grade: add 50~90 grams of magnesium oxide or 0.5% of the amount of concentrate into the cow's diet every day, which can supplement the content of magnesium, and is also an excellent rumen buffer, regulate rumen fermentation, and increase the absorption of milk synthesis precursors by the breast, and improve milk yield and milk fat rate.
3. Poultry: Newborn chicks can only survive for a few days when fed a diet completely lacking of magnesium. When fed a low-magnesium diet, chicks will grow slowly, lethargy, wheezing, shortness of breath, and after being frightened, they will show short-term convulsions, resulting in temporary coma or death. According to the experiment, the growth rate of broilers fed a diet containing 200PPm magnesium is reduced by 80% compared with a diet containing 600PPm magnesium.
