Magnesium carbonate is an inorganic compound with chemical formula of MgCO3, molecular weight of 84.31 and relative density of 3.037. The appearance is white granular powder. It decomposes at 350 ℃ and loses carbon dioxide at 700 ℃. Slightly soluble in cold water, slowly soluble in acid. Its trihydrate is colorless acicular crystal, with a melting point of 165 ℃ and a relative density of 1.850. Its pentahydrate is a white monoclinic crystal with a relative density of 1.73, which is decomposed by heating in the air. Hydrate can be obtained by adding carbon dioxide and sodium carbonate into the magnesium salt solution, and anhydrous can be obtained by drying the hydrate at below 50 ℃
Main application
1. It is used to manufacture magnesium salt, magnesium oxide, fireproof coating, ink, glass, toothpaste, rubber filler, etc., and used as flour improver, bread leavening agent, etc. in food.
2. Neutralizer for gastric acid, used for gastric and duodenal ulcer.
3. Alkaline agent, desiccant, color protection agent, anti-caking agent, carrier, bulking agent and acidity regulator. EEC is approved for: table salt, powdered sugar, acidified cream, milk, ice cream, biscuits. Used for preparing chemical bulking agent. The residue in food should not be greater than 0.5% (Japan). It is used to prevent salt from caking, and the addition amount is 0.1%~0.3%.
